Obituary
Edeltraud Krause Ostendorf, “Edie,” passed away peacefully at home on December 10, 2023, with her Sebastian family at her side. Edie was born in Glatz, Silesia, far eastern Germany, on February 28, 1927. She was the youngest of five sisters and was born into a world that would change dramatically in her lifetime. Her family was displaced from Glatz after WWII, and she immigrated in1952 to America on a refugee ship, assigned as an interpreter. Edie joined her sister Ursula in New York State and eventually moved to Florida in the early 1960’s. She worked in sales and real estate, was a business owner, and was ultimately the head security guard at Aquarina Country Club in Melbourne until the age of 85. Everyone who met Edie loved her for her warm and welcoming charm, her endless energy, love of animals and plants, musical talent, and her natural ability to always bring joy and love in every space she inhabited.
Edie is preceded in death by her four sisters, most recently Ursula with whom she shared a special bond. Edie will be deeply missed by all those who loved her; nephew Dennis Rowell (Linda), niece Debbie Rowell Legan (Mark), family in Germany, Joachim Pfetzinger, and Andrea Coy, her dearest friend of many years.
