Obituary
Dorothy Marie Price
September 21, 1921 - April 24, 2012
Dorothy Price passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side. She was born September 21, 1921 in Pleasanton, Iowa to Oren and Grace (Drury) Elmore.
The family moved from Iowa to Portland, Oregon at the beginning of Word War II. In Portland, Dorothy met the love of her life, Jack Wilson Price. They were married July 1, 1947 and lived in Long Beach, California where they had 2 children. Jack and Dorothy moved to Cherry Valley, California in 1967 and enjoyed the rural life on a small farm. She was always happiest when in her kitchen cooking for family and friends, and was called "mom" by many. Jack passed away in 1978 and Dorothy never remarried saying she could not love anyone else. She lived in Tigard, Oregon from 1986 to 1996, then moved to Crescent City, California to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She was known for always wearing large, colorful earrings and having a beer or two with good friends and family.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; her parents, Oren (WWI Veteran) and Grace; her brother James Elmore, a KIA decorated WW II Soldier; and her sister Virginia Brasky. She is survived by her son, John B. Price of Portland Oregon; her daughter Sydney Patterson Clinton and husband Randall, of Crescent City, California; 5 grandchildren, Whitney Patterson of Crescent City, CA; Rachel Patterson of Boston, MA; Jacob Patterson of San Francisco, CA; Hannah Price and Hadley Price of Portland, Oregon; her sister, Charleen Ball of Newberg, Oregon, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Her greatest pleasure in life came from being a mother and grandmother. She passed from this earth on what would have been her beloved Jack's 96th birthday.
Should you wish to honor her, the family requests donations in her memory be made to California State Braille & Talking Book Library, Sacramento, California.
She will be buried alongside family at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portland Oregon.
Dorothy was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will never be forgotten.
