Obituary
Donna Rae J. Ingram died unexpectedly at home on July 8, 2012.
Born August 16, 1941 in Forks, Washington (Twilight) to Gene and Helen Beckett, Donna grew up in Port Angeles, Washington. She attended school there, remembering the good days of youth. She then moved to Crescent City in 1955, starting new friendships and graduating high school with the class of 1959.
Donna worked for Art Ames, enjoying the friendships she made there before moving on to work for the Del Norte County Welfare office. She then went to work for the California Division of Highways and talked her husband into working there also. Her husbands job took her away from Del Norte County for five years, but during this time she added to her list of friends and family. Upon returning, Donna went to work for the California Highway Patrol as the Office Services Supervisor, making many more friends during the 25 years until her retirement. Working for the CHP was one of her greatest joys, including the years that she was the CHPs voice on the morning KPOD radio program, Road Show. She was recognized as the CHP, Crescent City Area's employee of the year in 1996.
Upon retirement, Donna enjoyed traveling with her husband; leaving Crescent City in February, traveling south to visit friends and then on to Arizona to visit family in Yuma. The next stop was as far east as New Mexico and then home to recuperate for the 4th of July festivities. Donna could usually be found seated in front of the Cultural Center to enjoy the parade and visiting with friends. Mid-July found them off to Washington for a family reunion at Mossy Rock and then taking the leisurely drive through the west end of the State, arriving back in Crescent City in mid-August.
Donnas routine while she was home included swimming three days a week and coffee with the girls two days a week. She also enjoyed bunko games, all the birthday celebrations and helping with the CHP retirees Christmas party. She volunteered as an election poling place worker for the Gasquet voting precinct. Donnas ability to give her time, energy and love were the glue that held the family together.
Surviving are her husband Wesley, children Perry and Terri of Crescent City and Staley of Rocky Point, Oregon. Her brothers Carl Beckett (Arlene), Johnny Beckett(Lynn) and sister Becky Crowell (Joe). Also, seven grandchildren; Kyle, Bethany, Brittney, Tyler, Micah, Marshall and Elena. Six great-grandchildren; Graden, Joselynn, Robert, Don, Nevaeh, Gwen and one due anytime.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at noon with a reception to follow, at the Corner Stone Assembly of God Church, 1281 Douglas Street, Crescent City.
Memorial donations may be made to the 11-99 Foundation, 2249 North State College Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92831
