Donald Elmore Nuss

Obituary

Donald E. Nuss, Jr. passed away June 14, 2021 almost a year after his wife, Sandra Nuss.
Don was born October 3, 1939, in Homestead, Pennsylvania to parents Donald E. Nuss, Sr. and Eva Carolina Johnson.

Don enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1957 and was stationed in Crescent City. He loved Crescent City so much, he decided to make it his home. Don was honorably discharged in 1963, married Sandy and legally adopted her three children in 1964.

Don became a highly skilled welder and started his own business, Redwood Welding Service in Crescent City on North Highway 101.

After raising the children, Don developed a passion for speed. He fabricated a streamliner to compete in Bonneville Salt Flats.

In 2009, his ‘Fast Ford’, along with driver Scott Norris, made a record of the fastest Ford in the world. Risk never frightened Don, it challenged him.

Don is survived by his children, Donald E. Nuss III of Brookings, OR, Lora Jabot of Clearlake, CA and Clark Nuss in Crescent City, CA.

Memorial services to be announced at a later date.

In Don’s memory please consider a donation to savethesalt.org.

God speed to all. Submitted by Don Nuss III, Don Nuss IV and Don Nuss V
