Obituary
In Loving Memory of Dolores Pisko Savarese Carroll
Dolores, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on February 27th at 93. She courageously battled Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease for years with strength and resilience with the help of Raymond Carroll, her loving husband of 54 years.
Born to immigrant parents, Susan and John Pisko from Czechoslovakia on August 28, 1930, in Plymouth, PA, Dolores was raised in a coal mining community where her father was a coal miner. Growing up alongside her two sisters, Margaret Pisko Duncan and Josephine Pisko Rapacka, she learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and family loyalty that would shape her life's journey.
As a single mother, Dolores fearlessly raised three children with love and kindness, her children could do no wrong in her eyes. Dolores found immense joy and fulfilment in her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds and she especially loved playing cards and games with them. She kept her mind sharp with daily crossword puzzles, knowing all the answers to Jeopardy and other game shows.
Dolores worked as an administrative person for prominent hotelier, John Monahan at the Diplomat Hotel and the Newport Hotel. Her next adventure was running bingo halls for many years. After retiring, she found joy in volunteering in Dave Aronberg’s office as an administration assistant and then as a “grandparent” in the Palm Beach school system.
She is survived by her faithful husband, Raymond Carroll, her three children: Jill Maxon of Alpharetta, GA, her son Alan Savarese and daughter-in-law, Carmen Savarese of Plantation, FL and her daughter Gayle Webb and son-in-law, Robert Webb of CA.
A memorial mass to celebrate Dolores’s life will be held on March 26, 2024, at 12:30 pm at St. Therese De Lisieux in Wellington, Florida. Immediately following will be a memorial at the South Florida National Cemetery in Wellington, Florida. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love will continue to guide and inspire generations to come.
