Obituary

Oregon City resident, David Thommen, died suddenly on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Portland. He was 49 years old. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Estacada First Baptist Church. 29101 SE Eagle Creek Road, Estacada, Oregon 97023. A private family graveside service was held at Redland Pioneer Cemetery. David Aaron Thommen was born December 22, 1970 in Oregon City, Oregon to Randy and Glenda (Jennings) Thommen. He was raised in Estacada and graduated from Estacada High School 1988. After high school he received his associates degree in diesel mechanics. He worked as a diesel mechanic for several years. He later received his bachelor degree from Multnomah Bible College. On May 17, 2003 David Married Karla Rierson in Estacada. In 2004 David was the associate pastor for Estacada Christian Church and later became the senior pastor. While pastoring he continued his higher education receiving 2 master degrees from Western Seminary. This April he would have received his doctorate in ministry for Western Seminary. He most recently was the associate director of the doctorate program at Western Seminary. David enjoyed fitness including Krav Maga and was ranked 10th highest in the nation as a Krav Maga Practitioner. He enjoyed reading and learning. He dedicated his life to God and his ministry by ministering and shepherding pastors in their ministries. Survivors include his wife Karla; children, Lyndsey (Jarret) Krueger, Tyler Thommen, Kyle Thommen; mother, Glenda (Ken) Everett; Father, Randy (Jennie) Thommen; sister, Heidi (Lee) Kaiser; step sisters, Jenny, Becky and Carrie; grandchildren, Emelia, Layne David and Olivia; several nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and cousins. Contributions may be made to New Life Church or Western Seminary Sunerogos Program in Davids name.
