Obituary
Darryl G. Lovaas died September 10, 2012 after a long hard battle with Parkinsons disease.
Darryl was born April 16, 1933 in Woodville, Wisconsin. When he was about three years old the family moved to Nampa, Idaho where he grew up and graduated from Nampa High School in 1951. He then served in the U.S. Air Force, being honorably discharged on December 31, 1952.
Darryl met his future wife Jean Holloway on a blind date in 1952. They were married in Nampa, Idaho in 1953 and celebrated their 59th anniversary in July 2012. In 1954, they were blessed with their son Michael. After his discharge from the service, he went to work as a switchman for Union Pacific Railroad. He graduated from Nampa Business College in 1957 and decided he like working with figures. Darryl enrolled at Idaho State college (now University) graduating with honors in 1961. He sat for and passed the uniform CPA exam and became a Certified Public Accountant. Darryl accepted a position with Arthur Young and Company in their Eureka, CA office. In 1965, he acquired an accounting practice in Crescent City, CA and practiced until 2008.
Darryl was very active in the community, he was a quite person so many never new all he did. He acted as Public Administrator for the County of Del Norte, was active and held various offices in the Crescent City Jaycees, president of the Crescent City Rotary Club, president of the Del Norte Easter Seal Society, Elks Club AeroNorters Flying Club and was a founding member of the Redwood Cruisers Car Club (formerly Redwood Crank and Spoke) worked with Scouting and was always willing to help with any project in the community. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities with the church. Darryl and Jean were sealed in the Medford Temple in 2000. He especially enjoyed trips and activities with his son, grandsons and all their close friends. Darryl enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating, enjoyed collecting and working on vintage automobiles. Darryls favorite was his prized 1932 Chevy. He also enjoyed his airplanes and was a licensed pilot.
Darryl is survived by his wife Jean, Crescent City; son Michael (Corina), Ontario, OR; grandsons Andrew (Celeste) Crescent City and Edward (Julia) New York. Great grandchildren Brendan and Madelyn of Crescent City. Also survived by sister and brother-in-law Marie and Tom Grigg, Bosie, ID; sister-in-law Ruth Doughty, Ontario, OR; brother and sister-in-law Roy and Glenda Holloway, Oakley, ID and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Gunder and Olga Lovaas; sisters Gloria Duncan and Avis Wasko; his father and mother in law Clay and Mae Holloway.

Visitation will be held at Wiers Mortuary Chapel on Monday, September 17th from 11 am to 5 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 10th & A Street in Crescent City, on Tuesday, September 18th at 11 am. Burial services with military honors are planned for Saturday Sept. 22, 2012, 11AM at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery in Nampa, ID with fellowship following.
