Dale Joseph Priest – Obituary Lifetime Portland resident, Dale Priest, died at Sunnyside Hospital on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. He was 69 years old. A “celebration of life” will be held at 2:00 P.M. on August 22, 2020, at Eagle Fern Camp. Dale Joseph Priest was born November 5, 1950 in Portland, Oregon to Alfred and Florence (Justice) Priest. He graduated from Centennial High School in 1968. He attended Culver City Bible College in California before going to work as a computer programmer for Meier and Frank for 18 years. Dale married Kathy Lindstrom on March 15, 1980 in Portland. He received his elementary teaching degree from Warner Pacific College in 1995. Dale then taught elementary school for several years. He finished his career working as a mortgage processor for American Independent Mortgage. He retired from there in 2007. They continued to live in Portland until his death. Dale enjoyed listening to music, singing and playing bass, as well as writing songs. His most requested favorite is “Friends”… all them smiling faces. He treasured his grandchildren and family. He will be remembered as the “Big Dog” for his coaching, scout leading, encouragement words, and never missing his kids’ sporting events. He was a member and elder at Open Door Fellowship. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Florence Priest, and brother Paul. Survivors include his wife, Kathy; sons, Andrew (Elisabeth) Priest, Nichlas (Stephanie) Priest; daughter, Rebecca (Kyle) Dobbs; brothers Jerry (Genna) and Daniel (Carol) Priest; grandchildren, Lyle, Charlotte, Jazzmyn, Peter, Izzayah, Christian Joseph, and Connor Joseph. He will be greatly missed by so many. In lieu of flowers Dale would be so pleased to have donations sent to Eagle Fern Camp or Snowcap.

Memories & Tributes

I remember his teachings and positive messages to the Boy Scouts that my grandson was a member of. He could always get them moving and I am sure his encouragement is remembered by many boys and their families. Cora Merritt
