Obituary

Clifton Earl Korsten Passed away on September 8, 2025, in Crescent City, CA at age 75. He was born December 4, 1947, to John J. Korsten and Lorene (Moyer) Korsten in San Diego, CA.

Clifton was the first child to undergo open heart surgery in 1958 at age 11. In 1968 Clifton graduated from Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, CA. After graduating high school, the family moved to Santa Maria, CA. There, Clifton volunteered with the city fire department, assisted his dad at the American Legion Hall, assisting bread and beverage truck drivers unload at local supermarkets. In 2020 Clifton moved to Crescent City with his sister. After joining the Dragonfly Day Program, he volunteered at the food bank, St. Vincent’s thrift store, made sandwiches for the homeless and rode circles around friends his junior, on his new bike and loved to go bowling. 

Clifton was preceded in death by John J. Korsten, Lorene M. Korsten, stepbrother John M. Korsten and sister Mary Ann Korsten. Clifton is survived by his stepsister Nancy Goldcamp. 

Clifton’s witty humor and gentle, giving personality will live forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, Clifton requested that a donation be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
