In Loving Memory of

Ghazi M. Osta

July 3rd, 1956 - July 19th, 2024

Obituary

GHAZI M. OSTA (Gus), or “Boo-Boo” to those who knew him well, was born on July 3, 1956 in Zahlé, Lebanon. He was shot and killed in his family’s jewelry store, Volusia Gold & Diamond, located at 536 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida, on Friday, July 19, 2024 (age 68).

Ghazi immigrated to America after the Civil War in Beirut, Lebanon in 1975. He was a sniper in the Christian militia. The war resulted in the destruction of his father’s seaside hotel in Beirut. After the war, Ghazi sought the American Dream, and his courage and bravery were unmatched. Together with his wife, they created Volusia Gold & Diamond 38 years ago, a successful jewelry store with a pawn and loans department.

Ghazi was a loving father, cherished husband, and benevolent brother. He was a kind and generous friend to all who met him. He mentored so many within our community. Ghazi had the soul of a lion, and always wore his heart on his sleeve. To know him, is to love him.

He loved his community and they loved him back. He has touched the lives of so many. Ghazi gave everything all the way until the end—as he was also an organ donor. He will be deeply and greatly missed.

Ghazi is survived by his wife, Leigh Osta; and his children, Sienna Osta, Esq., David-Michael Osta, Pavlina Osta, and Fiona Osta.

Visitation to honor Ghazi Osta will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, located at 733 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174, on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 2:00PM - 4:00PM & 6:00PM - 8:00PM. A Catholic Vigil Service will be conducted at 7:00PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 8:30AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, located at 4675 S Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129. Following the Mass, there will be a reception hosted by the family in the Parish Center. Interment will then follow with the Catholic Rite of Committal Service at Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery in Winter Park, FL.
