In Loving Memory of

Cindy Lea (Gavette) Huckins

September 2nd, 1958 - December 14th, 2018

Obituary

Our darling Cindy died at her home with her family by her side on Friday, December 14, 2018. She was 60 years old.

Cindy was born September 2, 1958 in Portland to Darrel Gavette and Carol Cox. She attended Sunset High School and Portland Community College, then graduated from Portland State University with a bachelors degree in accounting. Soon after, she passed the CPA test and became an accountant for First Interstate Bank. Eventually, after a long career, she retired from accounting at Marylhurst University.

Cindy met her husband Stephen while attending PCC. They fell in love and married in August of 1981. Stephen said she was the funniest person he had ever met. Cindy said he married her because she had a car. She had a full life and loved gardening, her dogs, cooking, family, friends, coffee, canoeing, cribbage, puzzles, traveling, the beach, wasting time with Stephen and so much more. Cindy loved living. She was small, beautiful, powerful and shy. If you were her friend, you loved her, and she loved you.

Cindy entered retirement with cancer. She fought so hard to defeat the awful monster. It was her only loss. We miss her dearly.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Stephen; mother, Carol Cox; sister, Cheryl Gavette; and her extended family and friends. She won’t be gone until we are.

Cindy asked that if you can, make a donation to the Dovelewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of the arrangements. Cindy’s funeral service will be held at River View Cemetery Chapel, Saturday, December 22nd, at 11:00 am.

Memories & Tributes

I never met Cindy but in reading the notice I see she was the same age as my daughter and she died too young. A comforting promise is at Revelation 21:3,4 that says death will be no more. How reassuring that Cindy will be resurrected to a paradise right here on earth and never die again. My sincere condolences to her family Joyce
I offer my sincere condolences to all of her family, especially Stephen, who I know adored her. She will be remembered for her kindness. Sharon Niemczyk
