Obituary
On Friday, March 26th, 2021, Chuck Clarkson passed away unexpectedly at the age of 56. Chuck was born on May 25, 1964 in Caldwell, ID to Marvin and Louise Clarkson.
He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministries and a Master’s Degree in Divinity through George Fox University and served many years as a pastor in the Free Methodist Church. Chuck and his former spouse Angie raised three children; Joel, Amanda, and Caleb. Chuck’s greatest passions were his children, grandchildren, teaching, adventure, and humor.
If you ever had the opportunity to speak with Chuck, you would recognize right away the love and pride that he had for his three children and four grandchildren. He always had pictures and stories of what his kids were doing and accomplishing, and Chuck took great joy in bragging about them to anyone who would listen. His love for teaching started in the church as he pastored for many years. He later used this passion for teaching in the prison system and in the transit industry.
His love for adventure started with motorcycles. For many years, whenever the sun was out, you could find Chuck out on his motorcycle, often with Caleb or Amanda on the back and Joel on his own motorcycle next to him.
Lastly, humor was a huge part of Chuck’s life. He never finished a conversation without a “Chuck Joke/ Pastor Joke/ Dad Joke.” His children would request that no one encourage him, but he never hesitated to make a perfectly timed pun to bring a smile to the faces of those around him.
Chuck was preceded by death by his father Marvin and his mother Louise.
He is survived by his three children, Joel, Amanda, and Caleb, four grandchildren, Desmond, Dashiel, Drew, and Adaline, his brother Dan, sister Barbara, his girlfriend Shelly and her daughter Madisyn, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
His interment will be at the Newberg Friends Cemetery, in Newberg, OR.
