Obituary

Charles Wayne Knowles, 86, passed away on October 8, 2021, at his home in Sandy, Oregon.

Charlie was born in Mount Vernon, Indiana, on December 11, 1934, to Charles Joseph and Lillian Knowles.  His family moved to Evansville, In., when he was a child. 

He graduated from Reitz High School, class of 1953, and entered the Air Force after graduation.  He was an Officer in the Air Force and was a jet pilot where he enjoyed flying in precision flight patterns.  After the military, he attended California State University, earning a degree in Engineering.  Charlie worked for Chevron Oil until retirement. 

Charlie enjoyed chemistry and science and loved his convertible Corvettes.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Knowles and his stepson, David Knowles.  He is survived by his stepdaughter, Nancy Swain and stepson, James Burch.  He is also survived by sisters Barbara Roedel (Evansville, Indiana) and Toni Jolly (Lewisport, Kentucky.)

Charlie will be cremated and buried alongside his wife in Tipton, California.  There will be a private family service.
