Obituary

Camille Owosela Camille was born the fourth of six siblings in Mullins, SC on January 13, 1947. She left this world to be with the Lord on January 6, 2021.

Camille was the beloved mother of Boris Brown and Tomeka Brown. In recent years she resided in Crescent City, California, with her cherished son, Boris and daughter-in-law, Tammy. Here she enjoyed many trips to the beach and drives along the ocean, as well as visits to her other favorite place, St. Vincent’s Thrift store.

She immensely enjoyed gardening and shared countless beautiful flower bouquets with her family, friends, and coworkers. During the eighties and nineties, Camille was an actress in many plays that were written and directed by her brother the late Lee C. Brown. Oh, how she was a star in every role that she casted for. She had “sparkling eyes” and an infectious laughter. Her conversations were always lively and jovial.

Camille was a vibrant and energetic soul. She did not require much, but she invested much. During her lifetime she earnestly served God, and her fellowman. She enjoyed doing good deeds, inspiring, and bringing happiness to everyone she knew. She was a faithful and committed member of New Samaritan Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. under the Auspices of the late Robert Harrison and presently, Bishop Michael V. Kelsey, Senior Pastor. Being a faithful member, she served in several ministries: Senior Choir, Hospitality, and Missionary, etc. until her health declined.
