Obituary
Mr. Billy Ray Moore, Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was 90. Billy was born November 18, 1933 in Imbodin, Virginia, one of 12 children born to Walter and Estella (Bishop) Moore.
Billy attended schools in Virginia and came to Indiana and began a long career of truck driving. He had driven for A & R Freight for many years before retiring in 1993. Billy proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64 in Indianapolis.
Billy spent much of his spare time fishing and watching NASCAR, football and old Western movies. He had also worked in the installation of vinyl siding and windows. He was always available to assist others and lend that helping hand. He cherished the time he could spend with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his children, Zetta Jones and her husband, Andy, Billie Love-Moore and her husband Tim Moore, Billy Moore II, Brenda Couch and her husband Eric and Diane Smith; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Pastor Patricia Cook as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Thelma Moore; his daughter, Marilyn Gosc and his siblings, James Moore, Don Moore, Sidney Moore, Jerry Moore, Victor Moore, Bud Moore; Walter Moore, Jr., David Moore, Thelma Wise and Alma Dickinson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 9, 2024 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastor Patricia Cook officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Friday, February 9, at the funeral home. For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the American Cancer Society.
