Obituary
Billie ‘Nadine’ Young, age 85. God saw you getting tired. A cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered, “Come with me.” After a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease Nadine passed peacefully in the early hours of March 18, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born to Ralph and Elpha Weaver Oct. 20, 1935 in San Francisco California.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Young, Sister Ramona McBee and brother Lawrence Weaver, and survived by three daughters and son-in-law’s Toni Well (Jerry) of Portland, Elizabeth ‘Betty Jo’ Dailey (Randy) of Sandy, Karen Wright of Portland, son and daughter-in-law Herbert Young (Janet) of Vancouver WA, brother James Weaver of Portland and sister Deborah Beitz of Prineville OR. She was loved greatly and dearly loved her nine grandchildren, her twenty great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Nadine was so very proud to say she worked for Pendleton Woolen Mills and retired after twenty five plus years, and quick to reminisce with anyone about her days there. She also ran a small business back in the day and the memories of that time never left her and those she touched.
She loved her backyard birds, stray cats, her German Shepard Sadie and everyone’s pets. She was affectionately known to family as the Crittersitter, never turning down watching over beloved family pets. She loved to bake and cook and share her often altered recipes leaving family asking “what’s in it”. Her sense of humor and witty remarks would always leave one laughing or smiling. Asking her “how are you feeling” would always be answered “with my fingers”. She loved a good night out playing Bingo and was more lucky than most. One could go on and on about Grandma Dean Dean. She was much loved and she loved right back. Her presence will always be with those she touched and she will be greatly missed. The hole left by her absence though impossible to fill will leave memories and will become treasure’s everlasting.
There will a celebration of Nadine’s life later this summer.
