December 28th, 1920 - December 23rd, 2021

Obituary

Estacada resident, Betty Smith, died at hospital on Thursday, December 23, 2021. She was 100 years old just 5 days shy of her 101st birthday. A celebration of her life was be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Estacada Community Fellowship. Betty Louise McCullough was born December 28, 1920 in Marion, Kansas to Bert and Mable (Swisher) McCullough. She was raised there. She worked at Techtronics for a time and was an assembly worker in the produce industry for many years. When her Margie and Betty went riding in their dad’s car, Margie thought Betty could drive, so she turned the car over to her. Margie was going to play golf with Dorothy, while they were in the house Betty got nervous and turned the wheel the wrong way and went over the parking and almost into Dorothy’s house. Betty was so mad because she was going to pick up her friends Molly and Barbara Mullen. She said that scared her enough that she never learned how to drive. Betty felt like her parents were still with her and helping her. Survivors include her son, Gary and his wife Mary and niece, Amanda Griffin.
