In Loving Memory of

Robert Joseph Bernacchi

Obituary

Robert Joseph Bernacchi a.k.a Bob, Bobby, or dad was born on April 18th, 1927 in Laporte, Indiana. During his childhood he spent his time farming, fishing, hunting, & participating in shenanigans with his 6 brothers. When he was a teen, he participated in several sports and according to him was a super star.

As a young adult he had many accomplishments. Golden Gloves champ for 3 consecutive years. He served in the U.S Army. During his service, he trained soldiers in marksmanship & ran them through their drills. He went to Michigan State University where he received a degree in Horticulture. Eventually using this degree, his father & brothers created a very successful greenhouse business. His specialty was growing blooming plants. If you wanted the perfect poinsettia, he was the man. This success eventually made him a recognized force in his industry & served as the Vice President of the Ohio’s Florist Association. In addition, a noted speaker on behalf of the Indiana & Michigan Floral Association for over 10 states & received the Indiana Gower of the year award in 1987.

As time progressed, he married the love of his life, Ruth and he was the father to 5 children (Billy, Bobby, Becky, Tim, and John),  10 grandchildren, & 5 great grandchildren.

After growing millions of blooms, he retired & spent years traveling with his wonderful wife Ruth. After their travels, they built their forever home in Daytona Beach in 1996. Bob could never stay idle. He served as the president of Lions Paw Grand Homeowners Association for over 10 years.

Bob passed on January 21, 2023. Bob’s outgoing personality, positive attitude, always made you feel  good about yourself and was one of his many great attributes. Some my say he was the class clown. He was a great friend to all he met throughout the years. He will be missed. He cherished his family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

A service will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 3 PM at LOHMAN FUNERAL HOME ORMOND, 733 W Granada Blvd. Phone number 386-673-1100.
