Obituary
Patrick was born in Salem, Oregon to Clair O'Grady and Susan Thomas. He was raised in Oregon City until 6 years old, then to the Oak Grove area of Milwaukie. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1958.
Patrick lived primarily in Gladstone Oregon, and Estacada Oregon. He worked early on as a local carpenter before gravitating to typesetting, printing, and ultimately printing plate maker for Mail-Well Envelope Co, Pak-Well Paper and Box Co, and retiring 2007 from Taylor-Made Labels.
Patrick was an active Jaycees club member 1971'-1976' and Gladstone chapter president 1974'-1975'. He then commenced to fatherhood 1978' beginning an exemplary 46-year run on this title that deserves ultimate notoriety and lumps my throat as I write this.
Patrick enjoyed all things benefitting nature, pets, German cars, music, young families, and children. He also immersed himself in Native American culture, history, and lore while contributing generously to several charities focused on providing better schooling for Native American youth nationwide for many years. Patrick also volunteered as a teacher's reading assistant and a S.M.A.R.T program assistant through the Gladstone Grade School 2012-2019.
Patrick is survived by his son Michael (and daughter-in-law Deanna) O'Grady, brother Dale O'Grady, sister Clairene Polanco, God-son Jason Hicks, God-daughter Sabrina Prill, and their collective young families. Also, his ex-wife (my mom) Marilyn O'Grady.
Dad's final instructions were a simple recipe for success as he always thought compassion and humor were the best medicines:
"Keep loving and laughing my son, just as we have always done."
