Obituary

Mantha Jayne Sylvester, 92, of Muncie, passed away on December 26, 2024, at Morrison Woods Health Care Community. She was a lifelong resident of Muncie, Indiana, born on March 18, 1932, to the late G. Dreke McAdams and O. Zelma McAdams.
Mantha owned and operated Sylvester Nursing Home in Muncie from 1963 to 1987. She earned a business degree from Indiana Business College and later studied Nursing Home Administration at IU Medical Center. Additionally, she obtained a certification in Pharmacology and Medicine Administration from Indiana Vocational College.
A talented musician, Mantha was passionate about playing the piano and singing. She performed in several musicals, including Little Red Wagon, Don’t Get Around Much Anymore, Caldonia, and many others. She played the piano at Shawnee Heights Baptist Church and participated in the Elks Follies #245.
She is survived by her son, Sky Sylvester; daughters, Ginger Peterson (husband, Bobby Peterson); Shelley Sylvester, and Kelley (Danny) Kelly; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way. She will be deeply missed by many family members and friends.
Mantha was preceded in death by her husband, Paul John Franklin Sylvester; and sons, Dean Sylvester and Bobby Jo Sylvester.
Visitation will be held at Garden View Funeral Home on January 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.
Mantha Jayne Sylvester will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her musical talents, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
