Austin M. Kirklin

Obituary

Austin "Aussie" M Kirklin, 89, passed away on October 15, 2022 at Morrison Woods Assisted Living.  He was born on March 04, 1933 in Delaware County, Indiana. He was the son of the late Mark and Edith Kirklin.

Aussie lived most of his life in the Selma area before moving to Muncie.  He was a 1951 graduate of Center High School.  He worked for Oren Kirklin Construction/Kirklin Construction for 40 years.

He loved to fish and spent many hours building projects in his workshop.  If he could find someone to listen, he would happily tell stories about every job he worked on during his career.

Aussie joined his wife, Shirley, in heaven after 6 months without her.  They were married 69 years when she passed away earlier this year in March.  

He is survived by:
Daughter: Cathy Coon
Grandchildren: Ryan Coon, Jami Soultz, Aaron Kirklin and Allison Kirklin
Great grandsons: Jegan Soultz, Alex Coon, Parker Coon and Riley Coon

He was preceded in death by:
Parents: Mark and Edith Kirklin
Father-in-law/Mother-in-law: Earl and Nila Dean Gibson
Son: Jerry Kirklin
Sisters/Brothers: Edrafaun Black, Mildred Burford, Elizabeth Leeka, Oren Kirklin, George Masterson, John Masterson

Cathy wants to extend a deep heartfelt thank you to Rosalie, Ernestine, nurses and all of the staff at Morrison Woods. My dad and I were blessed and grateful to have you care for him.  You all are just the best.

In lieu of flowers. donations can be sent to the American Heart Association 
 
A private  service is being held for the family.
