Obituary
Janice Owens Gore, 77, passed away peacefully at her home on April 30, 2024. She was born November 17, 1946, in Gadsden, Alabama.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, William (Bill) Gore; daughters, Gina Hayes (Brian); Tammy Hix (Don); Tina Jackson
(Bobby); grandchildren, Kasie Champion (Blake); Owen Hayes; Jameson Hayes; Montgomery Hix; Aiden Jackson; great-grandchildren, Cora Mae Champion; Beau Champion.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, James Harold and Lillian Owens; grandparents, Lora and Linville Owens, Marie and Wilson Early Braden.
Janice was a 1965 graduate of Glencoe High School and attended Gadsden State Community College. She worked in banking for 38 years at Farmers & Merchants Bank, First Alabama Bank, and Regions Bank. Janice grew up as an active member of Glencoe First Baptist Church. where she was baptized as a young girl. She was currently a member of East Walnut Baptist Church.
Janice enjoyed traveling, estate sales, and spending time with her three best friends, her sisters, Gwenette Watson, Sherry Owens, and Diana Jackson. Janice loved people—especially her fellow Glencoe High School classmates. Janice’s friendships encompassed all aspects of life, and each was special to her. From helping in times of sadness and difficulty, Janice was a true friend. She volunteered as a poll worker at the George Wallace Senior Citizens Center in Glencoe during numerous election cycles because she loved visiting with people and serving others. The love she had for her children and grandchildren was shown in small acts of service, quality time, and celebration. She leaves a legacy of kindness and joy.
The family extends special thanks to Jan Mackey, Diane Hayes, Mollie Horton, Randy Hanson, Beth Andrade, ACH Hospice and Alabama Home Care of Gadsden for their unwavering encouragement and love for Janice.
Visitation will be 12 pm – 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024, service to follow.
