Obituary
Mary A. Bird passed away peacefully Thursday, January 18, 2024.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 1-2 pm at Elkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the chapel with Pastor Stanley Luntungan officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Bird grew up and attended school in Waterloo and remained a lifelong resident of Lauderdale County. She was a member of the Shoals Seventh Day Adventist church for over 60 years, where she dedicated her time to the children’s department. Her greatest happiness came from caring for others, particularly children, and she also spent many years as an in-home caregiver for the elderly. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet nature and kind heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert L. Bird, daughter, Ann Roccato, son, Stanley Vaden, her parents, Arnold and Nancy Irons, six sisters, and three brothers.
Mrs. Bird is survived by her children, Linda Ballard (Bart), Elaine Monroe (Gary), and Hubert Levi Bird, Jr., her grandchildren, Jimmy Vaden, John Roccato, Christina Roccato, Levi Bird, Kodie Bird, Laura Elliott, and Lindsey Woodis, as well as ten great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for the loving care they provided her.
