Obituary

Sue Ellen Obenchain, 74, of Edwardsburg, entered into eternal rest on May 11, 2022. She was born on February 20, 1948 to the late John Obenchain and Mary Lou Miller in South Bend, IN. Sue enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to sew. She worked in the art department at Saint Mary’s College for over 20 years. Sue’s grandchildren meant the world to her and being around them brought her a lot of joy in life.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Obenchain; and sister, Patty Obenchain.

Sue is survived by her children, Eric (Misty) Grounds, Kelly Grounds, Dennis Grounds Jr., and Josh (Beth) Grounds; ex-husband, Dennis Grounds Sr.; grandchildren, Joshua Grounds Jr., Zoey Grounds, Joseph Grounds, Nicholas Jimenez, Chloe Monsma, Colin Monsma, Brady Grounds, and Leyla Grounds; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home,10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola, IN 46561. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
