Obituary

Mr. James Patrick ‘Jim’ Gillmore, Greenwood, passed away on the morning of Thursday, May 5, 2022. He was 76. Jim was born January 24, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, a son of the late James Joseph and Mary Dorothy (Devitt) Gillmore.
Jim was a graduate of Thornton High School in Illinois and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Illinois University. He also honorably served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the American Legion Post 252 in Greenwood.
Jim had been employed as a project manager with the Motorola Corporation serving for 35 years until his retirement in 2007. He enjoyed sports and invested in the lives of children by coaching both softball and baseball. He served as a board member with the Warren Little League and had been involved with the Boys Scouts for several years. Jim was an ardent Chicago White Sox fan as well as the Indianapolis Colts where he was a season ticket holder.
Jim was an airplane enthusiast and also enjoyed guns. He deeply loved his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karen (Sengstock) Gillmore; his children, James Scot (Amy) Gillmore, Chuck (Karen) Gillmore, Christy (Steven) Addison and Michelle (Mark) Chapman; his grandchildren, Gracie, Emily, James, Dylan, Ellie, Claire, Alyssa, Gemma and AJ; his siblings Monica (Richard) Valenta and Mary Gillmore.
He is preceded in passing by his parents.
Private funeral services are planned with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends and family from 4:00 until 7:00 pm, Friday, May 13, 2022 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood.
